WhatsApp has no official Wrapped. Every chat already holds the data for one, though: export the chat (Without Media), share it to Red Flag: Cringe Chat Analyzer on iPhone, and you get the numbers counted from every timestamp, from who sent more to who texts first and how fast each of you replies, plus an honest read of what they say about the two of you.
Spotify tells you what you listened to. Your chat can tell you something more awkward: who carried the conversation, who went quiet and when, and which word you couldn't stop using.
Is there an official WhatsApp Wrapped?
No. WhatsApp doesn't make a yearly recap of your chats. Every "WhatsApp Wrapped" is a third-party app or website that reads a chat you export yourself. That's fine, as long as it never asks for more than the export.
Never scan a WhatsApp Web QR code to get a Wrapped. Scanning one links a new device to your WhatsApp account, which can then read every chat you have. A recap only needs the one chat you choose to export.
How to make yours in two minutes
- In WhatsApp, open the chat, tap the name at the top, tap Export Chat and choose Without Media.
- Pick Chat Analyzer in the share sheet. The chat opens in the app.
- Read your recap, then share it as a link if you want the other person to see it.
Exporting doesn't notify anyone and doesn't change the chat. The full steps are in our WhatsApp guide.
What's in your Wrapped
- Who texts more: the message count for each of you.
- Who starts: who breaks the silence, as a percentage.
- Reply speed: the average time each of you takes to answer.
- Where it started: the date of your very first message and who sent it.
- Your top words, each of you, with counts.
- The longest message and who wrote it.
- Last 3 months: a calendar of the thirteen weeks up to your last message.
- Deleted messages, if there are any.
And the part a stats page can't do: a verdict, interest level for both of you, red flags, the pattern you two fall into and the one line that says it all.
It's your whole chat, not just this year. The recap counts every message in the export, from the first. There's no year filter; if your chat started this year, the whole chat is your year.
How to check the numbers are real
A recap is only fun if it's true. These numbers are counted from the timestamps in your export, not guessed by an AI, so you can check them yourself:
- Scroll to the top of the chat in WhatsApp. The date and sender of the first message should match "Where it started".
- A conversation counts as new after six hours or more of silence. Pick a week and count who broke each silence; it should look like "Who starts".
- Reply speed is an average, so one slow night barely moves it. A change that lasts weeks does.
Screenshots work for chats you can't export, but then the counts come only from what's on the screenshots and timing is estimated. For a real Wrapped, use the export.
Wrapped for a group chat
Export a group chat the same way. With three or more people you get a leaderboard of who sends the most messages, counted, with a one-line title for everyone. Then the awards, picked from the numbers: the night owl, the ghost, the most voice notes, the most emojis, the longest messages, the fastest and the slowest to reply, the one who starts everything. An award only appears when someone clearly wins it. The line of the group and the group's top words finish it off.
Share it: a link, an AI image, a 30-second song
A recap is more fun when the other person sees it. Share the result as a link that opens in any browser, no app needed on their side. Or turn the year into something else: an AI image of the two of you (meme, cartoon or cinematic), or a 30-second song with lyrics in your chat's language, made from a short description of the read, without real names.
