Red Flag: Cringe Chat Analyzer is an iPhone app that analyzes a WhatsApp chat with AI. Export the chat from WhatsApp (Without Media), share the file to the app, and it counts every message and timestamp for both of you, then writes an honest read of the dynamic: red flags, interest level, who texts first, reply times, attachment style and what to do next. One chat costs $1.99; no account is needed.
Most WhatsApp analyzers stop at statistics: a bar chart of who sent more messages, a word cloud, the busiest hour. Useful, but it leaves the real question open. Is the interest even? Is the slower reply time a habit or a change? A read answers that by looking at the numbers and the words together.
What the analyzer shows
Two kinds of result, and the app keeps them apart.
Counted from every message
- Who texts more: the message count for each of you.
- Who starts: who opens the conversation, as a percentage. A conversation counts as new after six hours or more of silence.
- Reply speed: the average time each of you takes to answer.
- Message length: the average for both of you, and the longest message.
- Where it started: the date of your first message and who sent it.
- Last 3 months: a calendar of when you two talk.
- Top words for each of you, with real counts, and deleted messages when there are any.
Read by the AI
- A verdict: one honest line on where this stands.
- Interest level for each of you, side by side, and a compatibility score.
- Red flags, each with context from the chat and how serious it is. See 10 red flags in texting.
- The pattern you two fall into and each person's attachment style.
- The line that killed: the one message that says the most.
- What to do next, with a suggested reply.
Before the read you can pick topics or type your own question, and the read answers them. After it, ask the analyst anything about the chat.
Long chats are fine. Every message is counted; for a very long chat, the written read focuses on the most recent part, which is still tens of thousands of messages.
How to analyze a WhatsApp chat on iPhone
- Export the chat. In WhatsApp, open the conversation, tap the name at the top, tap Export Chat and choose Without Media.
- Share it to the app. Pick Chat Analyzer in the share sheet. The chat opens in the app, nothing to copy or paste.
- Read the result. The numbers come first, then the read. Ask the analyst a follow-up question if something isn't clear.
Screenshots work too, for a chat you can't export or one from another app. The full walkthrough, with what each step looks like, is in our step-by-step guide.
The app only reads a chat you export and share yourself. It can't open anyone's WhatsApp, and it doesn't need your WhatsApp login or a QR code.
One-to-one and group chats
A chat with three or more people gets a group read. It opens with a leaderboard: who sends the most messages, counted, with a one-line title for each person. Then come the awards, picked from the numbers: the night owl, the ghost, the fastest and the slowest to reply, the one who starts everything. An award only appears when someone clearly wins it. The group's top words, the line of the group, when the chat is busiest and what the group should do now complete it.
One-to-one is the classic: two people, every number side by side, and a read of the two of you.
Counted, then read: stats tools, ChatGPT and this app
| Stats counters | ChatGPT | Cringe Chat Analyzer | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Message counts and reply times | Counted | Not in plain chat: it needs code run on the file | Counted from every timestamp |
| Red flags, tone, attachment style | No | Yes, if you write the prompt | Yes, with context from the chat |
| A chat of several months | Yes | If it fits in one message | Yes |
| What to do next | No | If you ask | Yes |
For one short exchange, a general chatbot is fine. For a real chat history the numbers need counting, and a chatbot won't do that in plain chat: when we gave a three-month export to two current OpenAI models and asked for message counts and reply times, both declined and wrote a Python script for us to run instead. The analyzer counts every timestamp first, then reads. A side-by-side of the apps that do this is in the comparison of AI chat analyzer apps.
What happens to your chat
The chat is processed to make your analysis and any extras you ask for, and the uploaded copy is deleted right after. Your results are stored on your iPhone. There's no account, and your data is never sold. The details are in the privacy policy.
Price
The app is free to download, and you don't need an account. Before you pay, a WhatsApp chat already shows its counted numbers: who texts more, who starts, reply speed, message length, the calendar and the longest message.
The AI read is unlocked one of two ways:
- Just this chat: $1.99, once. No subscription, nothing renews.
- A subscription: $8.99 a week or $34.99 a year, for every chat, plus AI images and a song each week.
